Staycation: Broad Ripple, IN

Staycation. It has always been a weird concept to me. It's not a vacation? You didn't really go anywhere? Broad ripple, IN and Deborah's brand of Ripplebnb changed my thoughts forever.

From making big over-the-top breakfasts, to binging Netflix series, to strolling through Broad ripple Village (yes only one street down from the house) — our mini vacation did not disappoint. I even made it a point to not be on my phone much and to really hone in on relaxing and taking in the time off. The location was so ideal, that I had an event to attend Thursday evening (a #GirlBoss Dinner Party) and it was only a 4 minute drive. That drive would have been over 35 minutes from my home in Fishers.

On our last full day we had Brandi come in and take some photos for us to document the space, our time together and to share an awesome company for my allergy friends. PS. this is not a #ad, just a damn cool find I had while in Brip!

Simple Mills is company that makes boxed foods for allergy-friendly baking. (I will go ahead and note that if you have a nut allergy to stay away as the base for their recipes is almond flour) for me: someone who is currently plant-based and grain free — finding this company was more than perfect. Bryce and I made their Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies one afternoon (mostly just to eat the cookie dough) and fell in LOVE. I will go ahead and link the box of chocolate chip cookies we made here, but I wanted to note a few alterations that we did:

01. It calls for butter and instead we used — Vegan Earth Balance Butter

02. When calling for milk — So Delicious Unsweetened Vanilla Coconut Milk

03. For Vanilla — MADÉCASSE Madagascar Vanilla Extract

Our time in Broad ripple was well spent. Relaxing with good food, a beautiful space, only making me cherish and love my home state of Indiana even more. So, where are we headed next? Bryce and I are headed up north to Grand Rapids, Michigan the weekend of October 27th-29th in collaboration with Experience Grand Rapids & the JW Marriott Grand Rapids. We are more than excited to share some awesome photos, experiences, and go-to spots in GR. Looking toward the future #MaddyCorbinTravel posts on the blog — they will be formatted in a more "Travel Guide" sense. What to eat, what to see, what to do, where to take photos, and much more! This is just so each of you can better utilize the posts to your benefit when traveling all over our great world.

The Duplex in Broad Ripple

If you are in Indy and are looking for a staycation or are coming to Indy for any reason, I 100% recommend Deborah's spaces. For years now Deborah has found old homes in the Broad ripple/Indianapolis area, buys them, and sprinkles them with magic (and a ton of renovations) and flips them for the Airbnb market. Her design skills are out of this world, and she truly knows how to curate that home-away-from-home feel. To stay at the same Duplex we did, find your way here. Be sure you follow her on Instagram too, @ripplebnb.
